Trump Wants To Make Industrial Pollution Great Again!

And Wall Street Lobbyists Didn't Even Have To Give Him Campaign Cash

High on the Trump administration’s priority list is making industrial pollution great again. Not only has Mr. Trump declared war on clean water and clean air, his anti-clean energy, and climate policies pose a catastrophic threat to the livability of the planet.

According to Donald J. Trump’s Vision, “We will no longer regulate our companies…”

And to facilitate that, Trump will:

Eliminate our most intrusive regulations, like the Waters of The U.S. Rule. We will also scrap the EPA’s so-called Clean Power Plan which the government estimates will cost $7.2 billion a year.

Like so much of his vague campaign trail rhetoric, Trump does not seem to understand the issues. Nor does he seem to care that industrial pollution causes cancer, diseases, birth defects, and can poison the food supply.

As TPM notes, Trump claimed he wanted to get rid of the EPA because, “Environmental Protection, what they do is a disgrace. Every week they come out with new regulations. They’re making it impossible —”

Fox News host Chris Wallace then asked, “Who’s going to protect the environment?”

Trump replied, “They — we’ll be fine with the environment. We can leave a little bit, but you can’t destroy businesses.”

So, the Trump administration will clear a path for businesses that want to destroy our clean environment, and he will give it priority over public health.

The same pro-corporate attitude appears to hold true for the entire planet.

Trump does not believe in climate science and has vowed to back out of the 195 nation Paris climate agreement. He called the deal “bad for US business.”

All this reinforces the notion that Donald Trump plans to use the White House as a conduit to give corporations more power to trash the planet than they’ve had in decades.

Vox called Trump a “Disaster for the planet.” If he succeeds in deregulating nearly all the environmental protections Americans have benefited from, it will be catastrophically true and have an impact on the planet for generations to come.

Dr. Joe Romm, founding editor of Climate Progress pointed out on ThinkProgress:

Tragically, America has elected a man who has repeatedly called global warming a “hoax” and who put a climate science denier in charge of his EPA transition team. We’ve elected a man who has vowed to kill the Paris climate deal, end all efforts to help other countries deal with climate change, stop domestic climate action, reinvigorate coal, and zero out all research into climate science and clean energy.

Based on what we know so far about Trump’s deregulation and energy policies, the health and safety of the American people are not even an afterthought in this businessman’s pollution plan. What’s worse is his allegiance is as much, if not more, favorable to corporate lobbyists than a career politician deeply entrenched in the Washington political machine.

Voters who thought they were electing a Washington outsider with Donald Trump are about to realize that they’ve been had.
