Ask any Trump supporter why they voted for him and one of the most frequent answers will be that, ‘he makes great deals.’ Anyone with an IQ scoring in the domesticated animal range knows that Trump is a grifting con artist who has screwed over anyone foolish enough to work for him. There are many stories about Trump daring smaller companies to sue him after he leaves them holding they invoices. It’s part and parcel to his business beliefs laid out in The Art of the Deal, the greatest book ever written, next to the bible.
In 2013, Trump contracted with a Benjamin Moore paint store to supply him with some $200,000 in supplies to work on his Doral National property in Miami. According to court records, Trump agreed to pay the Paint Spot $200,000 for supplies to help renovate the Lodge at Trump Doral. Because Trump is the grifting conman that he is, he simply decided in 2013 he had “paid enough” of the contract and wouldn’t fork over the last $32,535.87 he owed. In lawyer-speak, that’s called a breach of contract and it is an actionable cause.
The closest estimate to the amount of times Trump has been sued in civil court is about 3500 times. Clearly Trump has a problem paying people who do the actual work which would explain his pathological hatred of Mexican immigrants. In 2014 Circuit Court Judge Jorge Cueto slapped Trump with a lien on the Doral and was about to foreclose on the property when Trump told the Judge he would put the remainder of the $34,000 he owed the Paint Spot in an escrow account, which he did. Then he refused to give them their money that he was contractually obligated to pay.
Instead of backing down and taking it, they filed suit against Trump tallying up $282,949 in attorney’s fees that he hoped not to pay because most of the people he screws can’t afford to battle him in court. Trump’s lawyers filed appeals after Judge Cueto found for the plaintiffs on the grounds that they had not filed against the correct Trump company. Yesterday, the Florida Supreme Court got back to the Grifter-in-Chief and his band of lawyers.
“We further hold that Trump failed to establish that it was adversely affected by the error contained in the NTO,” the ruling says. “We also affirm the final judgment awarding attorney’s fees.”
Trump is notoriously cheap but as he keeps claiming to be the great “deal maker,” he can’t even get his own party who ran on repealing Obamacare to actually repeal it after they voted 60 times to do so. For $34,000 in paint, Trump will end up paying the plaintiffs over $300,000 and that doesn’t count whatever his attorneys charged him.
The fact of the matter is that the only deal Trump knows how to make is how to steal from the working people he claims to represent. His renegotiations of NAFTA will never happen. His negotiations with China will never happen. Him making the Mexicans pay for his wall will never happen. He will cut funding for Meals on Wheels and tell hungry children they don’t need food while spending $16 million to drop a MOAB to kill 32 terrorists in a cave 7 thousands miles from the US. That’s $450,000 per terrorists.
This is what “making America great again” is about and if you voted for this conman, you’re the reason why we can’t have nice things.
