“I am the bona fide KING OF DETROIT LOVE,” Confederate flag waver Kid Rock bizarrely declared in his unhinged diatribe.
Kid Rock grew up in Detroit as Robert Ritchie. But a civil rights group wants this week’s concerts at Little Caesars Arena canceled and he’s ticked off.
Last week, CBS News reported the National Action Network (NAN)’s Detroit chapter president Charles Williams II insists the staunch Republican’s comments on Colin Kaepernick’s protests are racist “dog whistles.” Colin Kaepernick, of course, is the former 49ers quarterback who’s now a free agent because he kneels during the National Anthem in protest against racism in America.
This comes in response to an aside from Kid Rock during a concert last week in Iowa. “Football’s about ready to start,” he declared. “You know what? f*** Colin Kaepernick.”
Monday’s report from CBS News adds it’s not just about Colin Kaepernick. NAN, which is led by Al Sharpton, also plans to protest the performances because of Kid Rock’s past displays of the Confederate flag at his concerts. Although an insider told the Detroit Free Press Kid Rock stopped doing this in 2011, after receiving a Great Expectations Award from the NAACP’s Detroit Chapter, he never apologized or made an announcement.
But Kid Rock’s fans still associate him with the Confederate flag, as you can see from this meme 2015. That was during a previous tour when Al Sharpton put pressure on GM to pull their sponsorship.

Kid Rock lashes out in bizarre Facebook diatribe.
On Monday, Kid Rock lashed out on his Facebook page. “People! Pay NO attention to the garbage the extreme left is trying to create!” He wrote. “(and by the way, f^ck the extreme left and the extreme right!).” He then went on to explain, “They are trying to use the old confederate flag BS, etc. to stir the pot, when we all know none of this would be going on if I were not thinking of running for office.”
But wait, there’s more. Kid Rock then declares he’s a homeowner and taxpayer in the city of Detroit, adding: “I am the bona fide KING OF DETROIT LOVE and it makes me smile down deep that you haters know that! Your jealousy is merely a reflection of disgust for your own failures and lack of positive ideas for our city.” He then brags about how great his shows are for the local economy and threatens to take his charitable contributions somewhere else.
Kid Rock then doubled down on his litany of past comments against Colin Kaepernick’s Black Lives Matter protests. “P.P.S. To be clear,” he snaps. “F*** ANYONE who takes a knee or sits during our national anthem! Pretty sure if Russell Wilson or Tom Brady were doing it they would have no problem finding a job playing for any team they wanted in the NFL! So cut the bullsh*t!”
In other words, Colin Kaepernick’s not out of work because he ticked team owners and other NFL top brass off with his protesting against social injustice. He just all of the sudden sucks. Never mind the fact that on Sunday night, John Oliver ran footage of an NFL bigwig flat out saying he’d never hire someone who won’t stand for the American flag.
A few P.S.’s later, Kid Rock concludes, “P.P.P.P.P.S. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!!”
Here’s the Facebook post with Kid Rock’s entire screed.
And here’s what may go down as Kid Rock’s first official speech for his U.S. Senate campaign, complete with a vile diatribe on “having to take care of some deadbeat, milking-the-system, lazy-@ss, mother f***.” He’s obviously not talking about actual “deadbeat, milking-the-system, lazy-@ss, mother f***s” like Donald Trump.
