Yes, you read that right: Mitch McConnell has stated publicly that he believes the women over Roy Moore – and we have it on video!
Either the Ole Turtle has finally grown a spine, or he has realized that supporting “Judge” Moore will be far more detrimental than beneficial to the Republican Party in the long run. We’re going to go with the latter.
The “Moore controversy” has been going on for a while, with plenty of GOP shenanigans to boot, such as Alabama State Auditor Jim Zeigler comparing Roy Moore’s sexual assault of a fourteen-year-old girl to Joseph marrying Mary, and they becoming parents of Jesus. Mr. Zeigler conveniently forgot Mary’s title (VIRGIN) and that Joseph wasn’t really the father of Jesus. That is if you take the Bible as literal truth.
Moore’s own brother had a biblical “moment”, too, when he compared the persecution of Jesus to the allegations against Moore. We’re now waiting for Roy Moore to start walking on water.
Several other Republicans (why do the fingers want to spell it “Repuglicans” every time?) have kinda-sorta come out against Roy Moore by stating that “if the claims are true” Moore should back out of his Senate run, kinda-sorta disregarding that the Washington Post, who broke the story, has four separate women – not knowing each other – accusing Moore, and more than thirty sources confirming his behavior.
Even a former deputy district attorney who used to work in the same courthouse as Moore has come on record saying “Everyone we knew thought it was weird” that Roy Moore dated high school girls, adding “We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall, but you really wouldn’t say anything to someone like that.”
Moore has denied the allegations of assault/harassment, and the master promoter of conspiracy theories, Sean Hannity himself, has defended Roy Moore on his radio show, suggesting that the “encounter” with the fourteen-year-old girl was consensual. Hannity is now facing backlash for his remark and is trying to defend himself while quite a few companies have cancelled their advertisements on his show. One can hope that enough advertisers cancel that Hannity eventually goes the way of Bill O’Reilly and Eric Bolling since it seems that hitting Fox “News” on the wallet is the only way to make them get rid of an unsavory personage.
Here at ANX we laud the women coming forward (and not just in the Moore case), and we understand that sometimes it takes years to gather the courage to tell your story. And courage they have, because one has already been doxxed (had her full name and place of residency revealed) on Twitter by an “alt-right” (yes, Nazi) supporter and Breitbart has “dispatched a team of reporters” to Alabama to dig up dirt on the women accusing Roy Moore.
The sad part about all this, though, is that the Alabama race is still close, with some people even saying they will vote for a pedophile over a Democrat (yes, someone said that), so if you want to help out in Alabama, you can donate here to Moore’s opponent, Doug Jones, who, by the way, was the one prosecuting the men who killed four little girls in the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing.
