If you had the misfortune of watching Trump’s Phoenix rally last night, you may have noticed that you could drown in the propaganda. While we’ve sort of become numb to our fake president’s frightening lack of competence and racism — as he destroys whatever is left of our system of government and civil discourse — it’s still unfathomable that it’s happening.
As thousands of supporters poured into the arena to watch the sh*tshow of epic proportions, thousands more lined the streets outside the Phoenix Convention Center to protest the atrocity going on inside. But then something truly remarkable happened: many people in attendance started to flee the building scattering like cockroaches when you turn the lights on. Listening to Trump trying to speak for a mere minute is daunting for the majority of Americans, but it seems that many Trump supporters (or fans of fiery train wrecks) in attendance have a threshold of tolerance themselves.
Hundreds left early, while others plopped down on the ground, scrolled through their social media feeds or started up a conversation with their neighbors. After waiting for hours in 107-degree heat to get into the rally hall — where their water bottles were confiscated by security — people were tired and dehydrated and the president just wasn’t keeping their attention. Although Trump has long been the master of reading the mood of a room and quickly adjusting his message to satisfy as many of his fans as possible, his rage seemed to cloud his senses.
Even if many of those Trump supporters who left stick with him, their early exit is very telling. Moreover, it proves that Trump’s complete and utter lack of skill with the English language beyond the 4th-grade level and behavior we expect to see from our president is simply not sustainable. There’s only so much nonsensical babble one human being can endure without wanting to pull their own hair out as an alternative therapy.
Perhaps Trump will have a harder time ignoring the fact that he is losing even the small amount of the country he ever had. Polls he ignores if they don’t say what he likes, this; he is too much the flim-flam man to not realize that when you have lost your audience, you have lost the sale.
