Matt Bevin, Republican governor of Kentucky, has become so intolerant of the possibility of Hillary Clinton’s election to the Presidency of the United States that he is calling for armed rebellion against her if she does
‘America is worth fighting for ideologically. I want us to be able to fight ideologically, mentally, spiritually, economically, so that we don’t have to do it physically. But that may, in fact, be the case,’ Bevin declared in a public speech on September 10.
He also encouraged young conservatives to speak up against liberals, implying that conservatism is somehow censored in the USA.
Bevin is a liar if he claims he will be fighting for America. If Hillary is elected she, like Barack Obama and most of the Presidents before her, will have been elected by the American voters according to the terms of the United States Constitution. Disrespecting both the American voters and the Constitution is no way to fight for your country.
Bevin also cited Thomas Jefferson who is quoted as saying, ‘The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.’
Whose liberty? Need I mention that Jefferson himself was a slave owner?
Indeed, the last time there was an armed rebellion against the federal government, it was over slavery. It was indeed conservatives who led the southern states to secede from the union to preserve the institution of slavery, resulting in vast numbers of unnecessary deaths. And what motivated slavery in the USA? Racism. Indeed, racism and fascism are the actual ideological roots of modern American conservatism, not liberty and justice for all. Gov. Bevin and his followers would not be fighting for America at all, but to fight for the society they live in to continue to be white dominated forever. The intolerant ones are conservatives like Bevin, not liberals.
Bevin also seems to have some sort of persecution complex. In reference to the hot issue of abortion he ranted, ‘It’s a slippery slope. First we’re killing children. Then it’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell. Now it’s this gender-bending kind of ‘don’t ask, don’t be a bigot, don’t be unreasonable, don’t be unenlightened, heaven forbid, just keep your mouth shut.’
Actually, I do not want conservatives like Bevin to be silent at all. The more those idiots rant, the more liberals like me can expose and react to their hateful rhetoric and discredit it at every turn.
That’s what free speech and freedom of the press are all about.
Yes, he really said all this … check out his speech at the evangelical ‘Value Voter Summit’ from last weekend below;
UPDATE: The Reverend Mary Jo Kemper is holding a rally at the state capital calling for Bevin’s impeachment. Kemper is running for Congress in Kentucky, hoping to unseat the current representative, Andy Barr. A press release from Kemper’s office says she believes that Governor Bevin’s ‘call to shed the blood of fellow Americans is unconstitutional, and an impeachable violation of his sworn oath to uphold the laws of the Commonwealth.’
