Donald Trump calls for unity in the Republican Party…Sort of, kind of, maybe not.
Party Unity? Donald Trump don’t need no stinkin’ GOP unity. But since his totally-broke campaign does need campaign funds, Mein Trumpf made a half-hearted attempt at paying his respects
During Monday night’s rally in Raleigh, NC Monday night, Donald Trump called for unity in the Republican Party. And then he declared he can win without it.
“You know? We need unity in the Republican Party. And I have to be honest, I think I’ll win without the unity. But we need unity in the Republican Party.”
The GOP’s got “pretty good stuff” and lots of “great people,” according to Donald Trump. All they need is “real unity.”
“And for the most part we have unity, we have pretty good stuff. And we have some great people. Like Bob, who just came up. And so many others. So many senators, so many congressmen and women, we have great people. But we need real unity.”
Or maybe the Republican Party doesn’t need unity after all. Because if GOP leaders like House Speaker Paul Ryan keep sniping on Donald Trump’s racist, sexist and anti-Semitic tweets, he would rather win without them. That way, he can continue sending out those racist, sexist and anti-Semitic tweets.
“Leaders have to get supportive. And if they don’t get supportive, we’re gonna win anyway, don’t worry about it. In fact, probably, we’d do better without the support we’re talking about, because that’s why I’m here in the first place.”
This is not the first time Donald Trump’s said he gives exactly zero fucks what Paul Ryan and other Republican Party leaders think. On June 19th, Donald Trump told NBC’s Hallie Jackson he wasn’t worried about Paul Ryan’s not-quite-endorsement, he replied:
“I don’t think we need frankly as much. And she’s selling herself to Wall Street and the Wall Street fat cats are all putting up a lot of money for her. And I don’t even want that kind of money. What I’m doing is, and I don’t think we need that money. I don’t think I need that money, frankly.”
Fasten your seatbelts, we’re in for a bumpy ride.
