If you have been married, or in a relationship, for any amount of time, you have probably had “that day.” You don’t want to touch them, usually because they have hurt you, and you don’t really care who knows it. During Trump’s first overseas trip, Melania and Donald Trump had that day on the tarmac in Tel Aviv, Israel.
There is no telling if this has anything to do with her rumored move back to the White House, or his high-dollar drain on the American people spending as much time apart from his family as they can manage (with the exception of his daughter, it seems). But there is also no question that when Trump’s short little digits get in gripping range of Melania’s hand, the slick and quick, subtle yet absolutely unmistakeable slap-away happens.
There have been questions raised about whether or not Trump is abusive to Melania. The hand slap doesn’t prove that one way or the other, it does, however, raise questions about the cause of the visible spat.
There will likely be an excuse, perhaps that she didn’t know he was trying to hold her hand, or she thought he was a creeping insect.
By the way, the couple holding hands next to them are Mr. and Mrs. Netanyahu, meaning that they were signaling that this was culturally and situationally appropriate.
Watch and judge for yourself:
