Despite presenting himself as a tough guy among our active and inactive troops, including promising to make a huge donation to veterans only to never actually make it, Trump seems to mistreat veterans a lot.
Trump went on a Tweet storm Monday morning in which he totally maligned Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal with respects to comments the senator made on the Muller investigation.
The Democratic senior senator and former Marine Corps Reservist had told CNN that he was in support of special counselor Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia, saying “that investigation must continue.” Trump apparently watched this CNN interview during his gazillionth vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, NJ.
“Interesting to watch Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut talking about hoax Russian collision when he was a phony Vietnam con artist!” Trump tweeted. “Never in U.S.history has anyone lied or defrauded voters like Senator Richard Blumenthal. He told stories about his Vietnam battles and conquests, how brave he was, and it was all a lie. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child. Now he judges collusion?”
To be clear, Blumenthal did misstate his military record, something which corrected the record on long ago. But, he did serve in the Marine Corps Reserve during the Vietnam war, just not in Vietnam. This was hashed out back in 2010 when Blumenthal apologized and clarified his statements saying he had meant to say “served during” the Vietnam War, not “in it.”
Let’s just say that veterans were less than happy with Trump, who never served in any branch of any military:
I am a veteran, you chicken hawk piece of trash. You have no room to talk. The only service you had was avoiding STDs

You Mr. President, have absolutely no right to criticize anyone who served.

5 Draft Deferments, using your wealth and privilege to avoid fighting while others less "elite" were drafted. #VetsAgainstTrump

Trump loves to pretend he’s a tough guy when he’s obviously not. If he were such a tough guy, then maybe he would have had the courage to serve in our military. Instead, he got five draft deferments on account of having bad feet. He just continues to insult and enrage Americans with his seemingly never-ending flip outs and juvenile outburst. There is no group or person that Trump has not offended or intends to offend with his utterly unpresidential behavior. Help us, Mueller: you’re are only hope.
