Veteran Journalist Exposes Trump For Yet Another Possible Classified Intelligence Leak

Veteran journalist Kurt Eichenwald took to Twitter on Friday to read Donald Trump the riot act for possibly leaking classified intelligence after a terrorist attack in London.

“Another attack in London by a loser terrorist,” Trump tweeted on Friday morning. “These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!”

Trump followed that up with a second tweet that said, “Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!”

Eichenwald called out Trump’s bold stupidity on Friday afternoon through a few tweets of his own.

“By tweeting Scotland Yard had terrorists ‘in their sights’ Trump was either disclosing classified intel shared by Brits or making things up,” Eichenwald wrote in his first tweet.  “…I opt for making things up,” he added in a second tweet. “Even I struggle 2 believe he’d disclose an ally’s classified counterterror info – and just so he could tweet?” “…if he DID real-time tweet classified intel shared by Brits, we can kiss intel cooperation goodbye. (It’s already limited cause of Trump),” Eichenwald concluded.

National security adviser H.R. McMaster was left to try to clean up Trump’s latest foreign policy mess. He told reporters on Friday that Trump really didn’t know what he was talking about. Rather than leaking actual intelligence, MacMaster explained, Trump was just speaking about Scotland Yard and terrorism in the most general of terms.

“For years, Scotland Yard has been a leader, as our FBI has been a leader. So I think if there was a terrorist attack here, God forbid, that we would say that they were in the sights of the FBI,” McMaster said. “So I think he didn’t mean anything beyond that.”

Go figure, British officials were not impressed with Trump’s tweet.

“I never think it’s helpful for anybody to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation,” said Prime Minister Theresa May in response to Trump’s claim that Scotland Yard had been keeping tabs on the suspects for some time now. “As I’ve just said, the police and security services are working to discover the full circumstances of this cowardly attack and to identify all those responsible.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who had sparred with Trump over similar tweets when the city was attacked back in June, said he hasn’t even had time to be bothered with Twitter or America’s tweeter-in-chief.

“I haven’t had a chance to look at Twitter, let alone tweet,” he said.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson seemed to echo Eichenwald’s theory that Trump was just making things up again rather than leaking real information and dismissed Trump’s tweet as mere “speculation.”

“We don’t even know who the suspects are so it’s a bit difficult to say,” the spokesperson said.

Trump seems to be wholly incapable of keeping his mouth shut about anything. It’s as if his sole mission in life is to destroy relations between the United States and every other nation on the planet. For what it’s worth, I have to think that Eichenwald is probably right if only because no one in their right mind would trust Trump not to leak information the moment it was given to him. Surely, intelligence agencies around the world already know better than to tell him squat.
