Trump’s Latest Conspiracy Theory: Illegal Immigrants Are Plotting To Rig US Elections

Trump claims illegal immigrants are planning a mass invasion of US voting booths

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a new conspiracy theory on voter fraud and how the 2016 elections are being rigged against him, even before the first votes are cast. According to Trump, America is being overrun by voter fraud that is soon to be committed by illegal immigrants who are plotting to stampede US voting booths this November.

According to the Huffington Post:

Donald Trump is accusing the government of letting undocumented immigrants “pour into the country so they can go and vote” in November ― the latest conspiracy theory the Republican presidential nominee is perpetuating to delegitimize the election….

Trump, meanwhile, has complained numerous times that the presidential election is “rigged” against him, including during the GOP primaries. After courts struck down voter ID laws as discriminatory in August, he said he expected a lot of voter fraud to occur in November.

“People are going to walk in there, they’re going to vote 10 times, maybe. Who knows? They’re going to vote 10 times,” he said.

It’s hard to keep up with Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claims, insults, and of course conspiracy theories, at which he excels. His most infamous perhaps was the suggestion that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and was therefore not legitimately elected. The ‘Birther Movement’ as it came to be called, was publicly fueled by Trump for more than 5 years, and continued even after President Obama released his long-form birth certificate in 2011.

In September 2016, Donald Trump finally admitted that the whole ‘Birther’ thing was a lie. But it remains part of a long chain of Trump conspiracy theories that include calling President Obama a secret Muslim, claiming that climate change is a hoax invented by the Chinese and that the Clinton’s may have murdered Vince Foster.

With all that, should anyone really be surprised that Trump is now trying to convince people that illegal immigrants are planning a mass invasion of US voting booths?

The real problem is not that Donald Trump seems to enjoy making things up, it’s that idiots believe him.
