Trump’s Executive Order to kill President Obama’s Clean Power Plan (CPP) is yet another sign that the GOP’s Liar-in-Chief is incapable of governing without spite, ignorance, or motivation in a myopic scheme for self-enrichment. Why else would a so-called president claim that forcing Americans to swallow more air and water pollution benefits anyone but the people who profit from creating it?
At his executive order signing ceremony this week, America’s Swamp King said, “Today, I’m taking bold action to follow through on… putting an end to the war on coal,” because according to 45, what America really needs is more jobs in dying industries that kill its employees with Black Lung disease.
In reality, jobs and the coal industry are not compatible, and it has almost nothing to do with how much mine owners are allowed to pollute.
As ABC News points out,
Some in the coal industry are uncertain that scrapping the Clean Power Plan will have any positive effect on coal industry jobs, which have steadily declined over the last three decades — cut in half from more than 186,000 to more than 98,000 between 1985 and 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
America’s so-called president, who is off to a bad start, is either incapable of understanding factual data, chooses to ignore it, or is so corrupt, he doesn’t care. Fortune points out yet another motivation; mean-spirited spitefulness.
… Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan… has nothing at all to do with “energy independence.”…
Wiping away the Obama legacy appears to be their clear priority in as many areas as possible, but especially in energy.
The damage from promoting pollution through deregulation does not stop with phony claims that it will create unhealthy coal mining jobs. The survival of the entire planet is now under a Trump-induced threat.
Climate data from NASA, based on a consensus of research, puts human-created pollution at the center of the global warming problem:
Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities.
Environmental groups are gearing up for an all-out war against the real estate agent in the White House and his attack on clean air, clean water, and a warming climate that threatens the planet’s ability to sustain life.
Environmental groups that have hired scores of new lawyers in recent months are prepared to go to court to fight a sweeping executive order from President Donald Trump that eliminates many restrictions on fossil fuel production and would roll back his predecessor’s plans to curb global warming. But they said they’ll take their first battle to the court of public opinion.
Advocates said they plan to work together to mobilize a public backlash against an executive order signed by Trump on Tuesday.
Although Clean Power Plan advocates can and will fight the Polluter-in-Chief’s attack on the planet in courtrooms throughout the nation, the most powerful force against Trump’s evil agenda is public resistance.
In the Huffington Post, Mary Anne Hitt, the Director of the Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign writes:
Let’s make one thing clear – like Trump’s attempts at a Muslim ban and taking away health care that came before, this too will fail, and the public will stand up to fight it every step of the way.
