Shepard Smith Goes Off On Trump Lying Over And Over Again “This Is Crazy!” (Video)

When the folks at Fox News start calling out Trump’s lies, even supporters have to listen. Shepard Smith began his show today by going through just some of Trump’s “alternative facts” and then smashing them. The subject? Leaks.

First off, Trump denied that anything has happened between his campaign and the Russians. Smith pointed out a subtle “qualifier” that the President threw in there. Namely, he used the old “as far as I know” qualifier in denying that anyone in his campaign had discussions with them.

That was just the beginning. Next, Smith previewed the next clip by saying “He also said the substance of the leaks are real, but the news is fake — which makes no sense at all.” Smith also pointed out the bold hypocrisy that last summer Trump was the biggest fan of leaks. Now he is singing a different tune. “I love Wikileaks,” Smith said in a somewhat sarcastic tone, referring to Trump saying the same thing gleefully last year. Smith also made note of the fact that despite Trump trying to draw distinctions that the leaks about his former NSA director, Michael Flynn. Distinctions that Smith and many Americans see as not important.

From there, Smith pulled no punches.

“It’s absolutely crazy! He keeps repeating ridiculous throw-away lines that are not true at all, and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia as if we’re some kind of fools for asking the questions. Really? Your opposition was hacked and the Russians were responsible for it and your people were on the phone with Russia on the same day it was happening — and we’re fools for asking the questions? No sir. We are not fools for asking the question. We demand to know the answers to this question. You owe this to the American people. Your supporters will support you either way. If your people were on the phone with (them), what were they saying? We have a right to know. We absolutely do. You call us fake news and put us down like children — (that) is inconsequential. The people deserve that answer, at the very least.”

Smith is 100 percent correct. The people do deserve answers and an end to the lies and deflections.
