Republican Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) has been unmasked as one of the members of congress who has cost tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars to settle sexual harassment claims from his former spokesperson, Lauren Greene. Farenthold is in one of the most gerrymandered districts in the entire country which has heretofore insulated him from any challenge for his seat. Farenthold is a member of the House Freedom Caucus which is comprised of the Tea Party members who claim to be fiscal conservatives and deficit hawks.
So why then would a man worth $5 million use tax payer money to settle sexual harassment and discrimination claims costing tax payers more than $359,000? Obviously this ‘fiscally conservative’ Republican is only conservative with his own money.
Politico quoted Greene as saying, “Greene said another Farenthold aide told her the lawmaker said he had “sexual fantasies” and “wet dreams” about Greene. She also claimed that Farenthold “regularly drank to excess” and told her in February 2014 that he was “estranged from his wife and had not had sex with her in years.”
It’s hard to imagine why.
If you’re surprised by the truly limitless amount of hypocrisy from Republicans, There’s some ocean-front property for sale in Kansas.
Farenthold’s fellow Texan and colleague in the House Joe Barton announced his retirement after he was caught sending pictures of his phallus to another woman. Both Farenthold and Barton usually make the rounds on late-night comedy shows for being the most egregious imbeciles to represent anyone. Here’s Farenthold pontificating about dueling female senators if he could.
Joe Barton is a regular source of folly. Here’s Joe Barton perplexing Obama’s Energy Secretary with something so stupid it has to be seen to be believed.
Hopefully Paul Ryan will ask Mr. Farentold to resign after today’s revelation after he said John Conyers should resign but Republicans have never been short of hypocrisy so we shall see.
