Chaos erupted in the Senate Chamber today as the Senate was about to vote on a procedural move to debate the latest version of a health care bill offered by Trump and the Republicans.
As they were about to proceed, protesters began to chant “Kill The Bill!!!” repeatedly. The audio engineers, as one can hear in the clip below, tried to shut off microphones to at least “silence” the protest as far as the viewers were concerned, but the chanting was so loud, that nothing worked.
Check out the event below:
Eventually, the order was restored in the chamber. The vote proceeded and passed by one solitary vote. two Republicans voted against the measure. that doesn’t mean the GOP’s repeal attempt will succeed, it means that some actual debate can happen on the bill. Many analysts say that the bill is ultimately doomed, however.
After the protest ends and the vote proceeds, former RNC chief, Michael Steele unloaded on the GOP for how horribly they have managed this process so far Steele pointed out that for over seven years, the GOP had no bill, and now just has a “gerrymandering” of ideas disguised as a bill. He also blasted the party for not having any actual debate on the bill thus far, choosing instead to do things in secret and behind closed doors.
