Not My President Day – Trump Protests All Over America

Trump Protest for the Not My President Day

This President’s Day, February 20th, 2017, will long be remembered for the number of protests against Trump. Today marks the “Not My President Day.” Our current President has no mandate, but you wouldn’t know that from the daily news of executive orders, alternative facts, and swamp cabinet appointments.

“A lot of people are angry because he lost the popular vote and is ruling like somebody who won by a landslide,” said one protester in Los Angeles.

Today, instead of celebrating our new President, they sold T-shirts that read, “Not My President,” and chanted, “In the name of humanity, fascist America — No! No! No! No! No!,” or “No ban, no wall!”

Though protests of new presidents aren’t unusual, the number, size, and frequency of the protests against Trump are not normal at all.

“What is unusual is the vigor, speed, size, and number of issues that they’re challenging Trump on. To have a sustained (protest), every weekend, every couple of days, and it’s a different issue — I’ve never seen anything like this before,” David Meyer, a sociology professor at the University of California, Irvine, and author of “The Politics of Protest” told CNN.

This time many protesters are ramping up the message of impeachment. Protesters in Atlanta showed up for a rally entitled “ImPEACH NOW! (Not My) President’s Day March.” Other protests took place in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Kansas City, Denver, Milwaukee and Salt Lake City.

One Atlanta protester told WSB-TV2, “The best we can hope is that marches like this will at least keep him under control, and let him act like a Republican instead of an ego-maniac.”

Scenes from the protests are proliferating on Twitter with the hashtags: #PresidentsDay, #NotMyPresidentDay, #Impeach, #NoBanNoWall, #IndependentInvestigation, #ShowMeTrumpsTaxes,  and #ImpeachTrumpNow.
