Blame Game & Power-Plays Emerge After Obamacare Beats Trump

Leaders lead, narcissist’s blame, and Bannon smells blood in the water.

As 45’s ridiculous campaign promises fall into the partisan pit one by one, White House power-plays are pushing their way into public view and it’s getting uglier by the minute. Calls to sack Speaker Paul Ryan have ‘President’ Bannon’s fingerprints all over them. The same could be said for similar clamoring to ditch Reince Priebus, the White House Chief of Staff in name only.

From the New York Times,

On Friday evening, a somewhat shellshocked president retreated to the White House residence to grieve and assign blame. In a search for scapegoats, he asked his advisers repeatedly: Whose fault was this?

Increasingly, that blame has fallen on Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, who coordinated initial legislative strategy on the health care bill with Mr. Ryan, his close friend and a fellow Wisconsinite, according to three people briefed on the president’s recent discussions.

A tell-tale sign that the Narcissist-in-Chief is ‘under the influence’ emerged in a tweet on Saturday, the day after Obamacare beat Trumpcare.

But the announcement was something of a ruse because of what followed. At a press conference after the Trumpcare vote failed, 45 had nothing but praise for Ryan’s efforts and instead blamed Democrats. Did Bannon get a hold of Trump between the presser and the tweets and bend his brain?

Bannon’s war on Priebus is no secret. Bannon wants to ‘blow up’ the system, while Priebus wants to work the system as more of a tame swamp-dweller. As The New Yorker noted,

The first significant policy of the Bannon wing of the Trump White House was executed in a way that insured maximum chaos and confusion. In contrast, Trump’s successful rollout of his Supreme Court nominee was largely run by the White House counsel’s office, an island in the White House that is relatively free from Bannon’s control and has been shaped more by Reince Priebus.

With Trump’s poll numbers struggling to break 37%, and broken campaign promises stacking up, Bannon, no doubt, sees 45’s failure as an opportunity to strengthen the authoritarian regime he so shamelessly seeks, behind an easily manipulated narcissist who has been called ‘mentally unstable‘ by more than a few mental health professionals.

But amid all the right wing bluster, something more powerful is emerging. People who never paid attention to politics are watching a presidency drowning in scandal and failure. The #resistance has muscle. And the next election is coming in 2018. Bannon and Putin may think they can fool voters again. On the other hand, fake news could turn out to be no match for the real world circus that the world is watching in disgust.
