The lowered expectations of America for Trump are revealed in a new Marist Poll. The poll found that Trump’s legacy “may be as one of the worst presidents” by 42% of Americans. A whopping 55% of those Americans polled disapprove of Trump’s performance and 58% have an unfavorable view of 45.
The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion was founded in 1978 and is well-respected by journalists, with a number one rating for accuracy by Bloomberg Politics during the 2016 presidential election.

Nearly six in ten Americans, 58%, believe Mr. Trump will be remembered as either one of the worst presidents in the nation’s history, 42%, or a below average leader, 16%. About one in five, 19%, think he will be considered an average president. Just 18% say Trump will be thought of as either an above average president, 11%, or one of the best presidents in U.S. history, 7%
The majority (55%) of Americans think Trump may have done something illegal or unethical in his dealings with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Even more (60%) think Trump’s campaign staffers were up to something fishy with Putin.
Even Republican have low expectations for Trump’s legacy, though half of those who voted for him think his legacy may be “above average.”
Even a Fox News poll showed 31% believing Trump would be remembered as “One of the worst presidents,” the highest percentage in their findings.

Fewer than half of the GOP, 48%, say President Trump will be remembered as either one of the best, 22%, or as an above average, 26%, president. An additional 31% of Republicans think Trump’s legacy will be an average one.
Seven in ten Americans consider Trump’s use of Twitter to be “reckless and distracting.”
Almost two-thirds of Americans (65%) trust their choice of news sources more than they trust Trump, despite his constant attacks on the press.
With 64% of Americans fearing America has gone in the wrong direction, it’s perfectly clear that Trump’s leadership could well be remembered as one of the worst in American history.
