Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is essentially running our country. You might go so far as to say he’s like Tom Hayden from the Godfather, playing the ever-so pragmatic and cool-headed consigliere. Ivanka is there to sell little purses, talk about how much Trump loves families, and babysit her dad but Jared is there to broker international agreements in the Middle East and to give advice on key foreign policy decisions.
But Trump’s whiz kid may soon learn the accountability that comes with playing a major role in the executive branch.
Progressive California Congressman Ted Lieu of Torrance, California, has advised Kushner that he’d better “lawyer up.” Lieu claims Kushner, 36, lied and committed a crime regarding contact with foreign governments. “Kushner committed a felony by not disclosing two meetings with high profile Russians during his security clearance hearings,” Lieu told MSNBC’s, AM Joy.
This couldn’t come at a worse time for Trump, who is desperate to pass disastrous policies just to stroke his Mount Rushmore-sized ego for his First Hundred Days, including revamping his efforts at getting the Republican House to take another last minute stab at repealing Obamacare. More importantly, Trump is dying to get his 2018 agenda before a Republican-controlled Congress. If Democrats reclaim all or part of Congress, many believe there will absolutely be an invasive and deep investigation into the Russian scandal. And let’s not forget no longer pretending that Trump’s hilariously unethical conflicts of interests — all in direct violation of the Emoluments Clause — won’t receive much Democratic inquiry should they reclaim Congress.
Lieu also demanded that Kushner’s security clearance be immediately revoked, a clear-cut indication that the Trump’s can on longer evade the Russian scandal.
