Advertisers Dump Sean Hannity As He Doubles Down On His Unhinged Conspiracy Theory Rants (Video)

Fox News published a retraction for their bogus story about the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich. Apparently, Sean Hannity didn't get the memo.

On Tuesday, Fox News published a retraction for their bogus story about the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich. Apparently, Sean Hannity didn’t get the memo.

“On May 16, a story was posted on the Fox News website on the investigation into the 2016 murder of DNC Staffer Seth Rich,” the statement declares.

“The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting. Upon appropriate review, the article was found not to meet those standards and has since been removed.”

But top Fox News “personality” Sean Hannity’s like a pitbull. He’s got this Seth Rich story clenched in his jaws and can’t let go. And if Fox has suddenly begun employing things like “standards” and a “high degree of editorial scrutiny,” this is the first he’s ever heard of it.

Police may say Seth Rich got shot in what was likely a botched robbery. But Sean Hannity insists Hillary Clinton had him murdered for leaking DNC emails to Wikileaks. Seth Rich’s bereaved parents have asked him to stop making a cruel mockery of their son’s death, but he gives zero fucks.

At first, he backed down while crying phony crocodile tears for Seth Rich’s family.

But later that night, Sean Hannity was back at it again, vowing that his sudden concern for Seth Rich’s parents won’t stop him from finding “the truth.”

Perhaps that announcement was greeted with the lonesome sound of crickets because 20 minutes later, he pleaded “please retweet.”

Sean Hannity: Please retweet.

When Sean Hannity finally got a positive response, he tweeted out his gratitude.

Sean Hannity after receiving praise from Kim Dotcom: Omg. Very humbled. #Justice4SethRich

As if anyone gives a flying fig about Kim Dotcom, who’s basically that 400-popund hacker lying in his bed while breaking into the DNC files that Donald Trump described during a presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.  Even many of Sean Hannity’s fellow right wingers are disgusted. Red State served him a heaping helping of scorn when they reported:

Sean Hannity teased a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT for his show Tuesday night. It was going to be about Seth Rich, Fox News, and his future. As you might expect, it was filled with the kind of substance we’ve come to expect from Hannity for the past several months.

Even some of his fellow “reporters” at Fox News are starting to turn against him.

Advertisers pull their ads from Sean Hannity’s show.

Now, finally, the dreaded thing is happening. Buzzfeed reports three advertisers have pulled their ads from Sean Hannity’s show.

Cars.com, Leesa Sleep, and Peloton on Wednesday pulled advertising from Sean Hannity’s Fox News program in light of his pushing a conspiracy theory about the death of a DNC staffer.

Meanwhile, other advertisers — including Ameritrade, Sleep Number, and AstraZeneca — insist their ad dollars don’t reflect their support of Sean Hannity, but they’ll be reviewing their ad buys.

Still, as The Huffington Post points out, this does not bode well.

The move by Cars.com to pull advertising mimics the start of a massive advertiser boycott that plagued Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who was unceremoniously ousted from the network last month after after allegations of him sexually harassing female colleagues prompted protests and eventually led more than 50 companies to remove advertising from his show.

Now Sean Hannity’s whining about Media Matters for calling him out and publishing a list of his advertisers.
