The Resistance: Why This Russian Spy Is Making Trump Panic

Mikhail Kalugin, Russian spy,

Another day, another mind-boggling array of stories linking Trump to Russia. We know that collection of corrupt connections seems to be absolutely limitless. Now it seems that Trump is in full Twitter panic-mode, according to Keith Olbermann and the Resistance Report, as a new Russian spy emerges: Mikhail Kalugin. Kalugin’s involvement with hacking American voter rolls in twenty states + may have been exploited by Putin to elect Trump.

This story isn’t the only big one today about Russian spies. Rachel Maddow reported that a former Trump adviser, Carter Page, was recruited and cultivated by Russian spies as an American asset in 2013. The story also implicates Jared Kushner, who met with Vladimir Putin‘s hand-selected official for a Russian state-owned bank called VEB. The bank harbored a Russian spy network in the United States which recruited Page. Wow! Just wow.

The name of the Russian spy working at VEB was Evgeny Buryakov, who was just released from prison to be deported back to Russia. But Buryakov isn’t the spy causing Trump’s panic today. That man is Mikhail Kalugin, who reportedly helped the Russians hack the voter registration rolls in twenty different U.S. states during the election, as previously mentioned.

Olbermann references Trump’s illogical and contradictory twitter-tantrums yesterday as evidence that Trump is in panic-mode. Trump tweeted about spying and Russia, making accusations implicating Hillary Clinton instead of himself as a distraction. Olbermann also cites Trump’s statement to the Financial Times as well as Sean Spicer’s statement that Hillary’s connections to Russia are really why the Russians intervened in the election – to elect her opponent???

Sure… that makes total sense…

“That’s panic, from Trump, from his White House, from his pet Congressman (Nunes). But because of somebody named Mikhail Kalugin, head of the economics section at the Russian Embassy in Washington…Kalugin reportedly went home to Russia last August after a six-year stint in this country,” said Olbermann

Russian spies are certainly abounding, but Kalugin was one of the spies identified in the Christopher Steele dossier:

“A leading Russian diplomat, Mikhail Kalugin, had been withdrawn from Washington at short notice because Moscow feared his heavy involvement in the US presidential election operation…would be exposed in the media there,” stated Steele in the dossier.

Certainly makes you wonder about last week’s prison release of the VEB bank spy, Evgeny Buryakov, doesn’t it? Certainly, it raises concerns that there may be more to that story than we currently know.

Olbermann relates that FBI Director James Comey’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s involvement with Russia has “nailed Kalugin as Russia’s key man in Washington working on the last American election, but in so doing, it confirmed yet another critical detail in the Steele dossier.”

Certainly, this is something that could panic Trump by itself, but there is much more to the story.

What is known about Kalugin has been recorded by F.B.I. surveillance, well before he left the United States. Kalugin apparently helped the Russians record names, email addresses, and party affiliations of American voters. That list of registered voters was then used by the Russians in a micro-targeting email and social media campaign to spread fakes news and propaganda, with the aim of helping to elect Trump.

The highly valuable government list of registered voters was not only valuable to the Russians here. It turns out Steve Bannon, former Vice President of the Board for the data-mining company, Cambridge Analytica, would most likely find that list desirable too. The company headquarters is located eight blocks from Trump Tower in New York City.

Like Olbermann said:

“Oh, Donald, this is bad. I’d panic too. Resist. Peace,” said Olbermann.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in the Resistance Reports from Keith.
